Brian was one of our musicians, and also our Bagman for many years; he joined Rutland Morris in 1986, and very quickly became one of our established musicians. Indeed, he was often the only musician we had.
Not only was he a very good musician - with his varied collection of recorders - but he was our Bagman for 10 years too, and played a crucial part (working with Barry Mather) in organising the '1995 Rutland Ring Meeting'. As well as these, he was our scrap book keeper too.
He carried out both of these roles year in, year out, although being Bagman can sometimes be a thankless task (think herding cats). One of his innovations was to produce a regular newsletter, on top of all the other Bagman's responsibilities.
After around 15 years with us, Brian moved to Croydon, where he became a musician for North Wood Morris. Brian then acted as liaison between our two clubs, and we were regularly invited to join them for events, as they did for us.
Some memories of Brian from our scrap books are here (note that some images are not very good quality, because Brian's membership of Rutland Morris pre-dates the widespread use of digital photography).
